1. What is HPR (Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR)?
Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) is a centralized, verified database of licensed medical practitioners. It serves as a single source of truth for patients, healthcare facilities, and insurers to verify a practitioner's credentials, specialization, and authorization to practice across various systems of medicine. In India, the HPR is a core building block of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), spearheaded by the National Health Authority (NHA).
Key aspects of the Healthcare Professionals Registry include:
2. What are the benefits of HPR?
- Unique Identification: Upon registering and verifying their credentials (such as medical licenses and Aadhaar), professionals are issued a unique Healthcare Professional ID (HP-ID).
- Digital Integration: It seamlessly connects professionals with patients, diagnostic centres, and hospitals, allowing for easy digital sharing of prescriptions, lab reports, and medical records.
- Trust and Credibility: It eliminates medical fraud and quackery by ensuring only verified, certified practitioners are listed for the public to access.
- Professional Opportunities: Practitioners listed on the registry gain easy access to participate in national healthcare programs and access a broader digital network of patients.
3. Is it mandatory to obtain HPR ID at the time of DBCP Registration?
As per the Delhi Government directions vide No. F 11/17/01/2026-M&E./I-6232-7, Dt:03.02.2026, mandatory requirement of Health Professional Registry (HPR) ID at the time of Renewal is being implemented in the Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad (DBCP) w.e.f. 01.04.2026. However, it is not mandatory at the time of Fresh/First Registration.
Hence, the candidate may first apply for the HPR well in advance of their Registration validity date, as the HPR may take some time to obtain, and after obtaining the same, can proceed for the Renewal Registration before the validity expiry of the present DBCP Registration. Otherwise a late fee shall be applicable for registration after the validity expiry.
